We have to say, this one was a hard pack to pull together. Mostly because we kept drinking all of the cellar reserve cabernets ourselves, or couldn’t keep them in stock long enough to bring a pack together.

Don't worry, try one of these

Why do we love this case?

The point is mofo, we got there. We all know aged cabernet can be one of those unicorns, hard to find, but priceless when you do. Our producers have done the cellaring for you, so now all that’s left to do is crack these babies open (although we suggest giving them some airing time before diving in).

1x Magarey Lane Glenroy Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

Red — Cabernet Sauvignon

Coonawarra — Australia

Classic Coonawarra - cassis, blackcurrant and dark plums rule the fruit profile whilst the regional characters of eucalypt and allspice pick up the slack. As soon as this wine hits the glass, it's unmistakably Coonawarra, unashamedly bold and unsurprisingly vibrant. 18 months in a mix of French and American barrels brings a complexity to the oak profile and fullness that will leave this wine in seriously good nick for as long your patience lasts.

You'd pay $130 full price.

1x Brothers in Arms Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

Red — Cabernet Sauvignon

Langhorne Creek — Australia

This represents everything that makes Langhorne Creek special for cabernet sauvignon - the cooling maritime influence, the terra rossa soils, and most importantly, the incredible fruit that comes from vines that have been producing for well over a century. The tasting notes are textbook aged Langhorne Creek cabernet - stately ripe mulberries and mulberry leaf with distinctive mint notes that mark this region's unique terroir. Roasted red and dark fruits on the nose are complemented by cedary oak and bramble, with savoury notes adding complexity. This is a wine that's having a moment of glory right now, get it home and get it open - it's drinking a dream!

1x Geoff Merrill Pimpala Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

Red — Cabernet Sauvignon

Coonawarra — Australia

Geoff Merrill is a man of many talents. Lucky for us (and you), making absolutely phenomenal wines is one of them. Geoff creates his wines with an eye on the future, everything is held back and carefully tracked until it's in its optimum drinking window. This is what a wine in the optimum drinking window looks like. Full of oomph and bravado, this strapping back-vintage cab is not for the faint of heart. Packed with succulent, ripe berry fruits, charry and vanillin oak and leather – this is not one to pull the bat away from big, bold flavours. Marked by a toasty oak profile, there's a whack of tobacco, clove and freshly roasted coffee perfuming the nose and palate. This is quite the wine to impress.

You'd pay $55 full price.

1x Reschke Bos Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

Red — Cabernet Sauvignon

Coonawarra — Australia

Yep, believe what you're seeing. This is the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. The needle in the haystack. The one you've been searching for. The perfect drop. It is quite a joyful moment when we get our hands on aged cabernet, from a top producer in the world-famous Coonawarra region. What better wine to show with some age than a cabernet, after all? Vibrant blackcurrant and oak have come together, tannins mellowed and earthy, secondary elements emerged. Unless you have a cellar full of aged wine, this is possibly the best chance to pick up some absolutely stunning aged cab for a stupidly good price.

You'd pay $55 full price.

1x Handpicked Regional Selections Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

Red — Cabernet Sauvignon

Coonawarra — Australia

Ask a Coonawarra cabernet tragic where the best cab terroir in the world is. They'll answer immediately, without blinking. And honestly, wines like this make it very hard to disagree. Seven years of bottle age have shown exactly what good Coonawarra cab turns into with time - the fruit has deepened and settled, the tannins have refined, and everything has come together into something genuinely compelling. Dark berry fruit, a classic choc-mint character that's become something of a regional signature, blackcurrant, violet and spice on the nose, and a textured, savoury palate with fine tannins and a long, persistent finish. Structured and complex without being the least bit intimidating. This is Coonawarra doing what Coonawarra does best. Drink it now with something from the grill or put it away for another five years. Either way, you're winning.

You'd pay $30 full price.

Frequently Asked Questions

Aged Cabernet develops complex tertiary flavours that simply can't exist in young wines - think leather, tobacco, and cedar notes that emerge through years of careful cellaring. The tannins soften and integrate beautifully, creating a silky mouthfeel while the fruit evolves from primary blackberry and blackcurrant into more nuanced mulberry and dried cherry characters. This collection spans vintages from 2012 to 2017, meaning these wines have had 7-12 years to develop their full potential.

These museum-quality wines deserve proper treatment - decant them 1-2 hours before serving to allow the complex aromatics to fully express themselves and any sediment to settle. Serve at cellar temperature (16-18°C) in large Bordeaux glasses to concentrate the evolved bouquet of eucalyptus, menthol, and allspice notes. The extended aeration time is crucial as aged wines often show completely different characters after breathing compared to when first opened.

This curated collection showcases how different Australian terroirs and winemaking philosophies express aged Cabernet character - from Coonawarra's terra rossa soils to McLaren Vale's Mediterranean climate influences. Each producer has done the hard work of proper cellaring, allowing you to experience the diversity of Australian Cabernet without waiting years for your own cellar to mature. The variety demonstrates how factors like vintage variation, regional climate, and winemaker style all contribute to the final aged expression.

The evolved tannin structure and complex flavour profile of these aged wines calls for rich, savoury dishes that can match their intensity without overwhelming the delicate tertiary notes. Think slow-braised lamb with rosemary, aged beef with mushroom jus, or mature hard cheeses where the wine's leather and tobacco notes complement the food's umami depth. The chocolate and cedar characteristics also make them surprisingly good with dark chocolate desserts or even a well-aged steak with herb butter.

These wines are perfectly positioned in their drinking window - the producers have already done the cellaring work to bring them to optimal maturity. While quality aged Cabernet can continue evolving for decades, these bottles are showing their complex secondary and tertiary characters now, with the tannins beautifully integrated and the fruit-oak balance harmonious. You could certainly cellar them for another 5-10 years, but they're drinking magnificently right now and showcase exactly why aged Cabernet is considered one of wine's great treasures.
