2x Russell & Suitor Ladera Chardonnay 2024

White — Chardonnay

Tasmania — Australia

Green apple, French oak and fresh cream on the nose, the palate opens up with white peach, melon and slightly bready notes. This wine has seen some malolactic fermentation and the richness, creaminess and texture created by this process allow natural acid, zesty citrus and oak-spice to really get to work. A very well-thought-out chardonnay that ticks all the boxes without breaking the bank. This is a smart pick up.

You'd pay $55 full price.

2x Metricup Hills Estate Chardonnay 2025

White — Chardonnay

Margaret River — Australia

This Metricup Hills Estate Chardonnay 2025 is pure Margaret River class with a relaxed, modern edge. It’s soft and generous through the palate, layering fleshy stone fruit and citrus freshness, then finishing with a subtle, well-judged oak glow that adds length without stealing the show. The fruit comes from Margaret River family vineyards in the Metricup zone, a pocket known for chardonnay with natural richness and coastal polish. Vintage 2025 in Margaret River delivered beautifully balanced ripeness and acidity, which is exactly why this feels both vibrant and smooth at the same time. If you like chardonnay that’s generous, clean and quietly premium, this will be right in your wheelhouse.

You'd pay $45 full price.

2x Sorby Adams Handcrafted Chardonnay 2023

White — Chardonnay

South Australia — Australia

Sorby Adams is one whose reds we have adored, and as we dabble into some whites we're continually astounded by how good these wines are. Having been head winemaker at Yalumba for 20 years, he certainly knows how to make top quality vino. This chardy is genuinely unbelievable value for money: texturally it flows on the palate like a plush peach. Time on lees has meant that it has a yoghurty, creamy consistency and the finish is ever so delightful. I'm really damn excited about this wine, and I reckon you will be too mofo.

You'd pay $30 full price.

2x Mont St Lunara Chardonnay 2024

White — Chardonnay

Alpine & King Valleys — Australia

Ripe stone fruit meets bright natural acidity (and a bit of clever work in the winery) to create a balanced, purposeful wine that overdelivers at every possible turn. It's not the dark yellow, flabby chardonnays of your parents' era - this is modern Australian chardonnay, right where you want it. Because of the altitude and natural cool-climate of the King/Alpine Valleys, you don't have to worry about these wines being lively - that natural acidy is built into the very core of the fruit from which this wine is made. There's not a lot we can say about this wine that isn't evident from the colour of the thing. Bright, fruit forward, zippy and rich in all the right places. Versatile, vivacious and very, very, very east to drink.

You'd pay $30 full price.

2x Pyren Vineyards Tanwood Chardonnay 2025

White — Chardonnay

Pyrenees — Australia

Chardonnay at this price point rarely, if ever, hits this level of palate weight and fruit richness. This is a mid-week wine that doesn't muck about. Creamy pasta, a bottle of this, the couch - what a night. Delightful and approachable. Green apple, citrus, pear, a touch of soft vanilla. On the palate, it's crisp and clean but ripe and weighty, papaya and grapefruit offer ripe tropical flavours and aromatics. The acid is lively and vibrant through the finish. This is a perfect wine to have on hand all summer long, fresh, exciting, energetic, and fruit driven - it'll go with anything and it'll please anyone.

2x Reschke R-Series Chardonnay 2024

White — Chardonnay

Limestone Coast — Australia

Fruit-driven but not simple, elegant but not precious, crisp but not austere. This hits that sweet spot where approachability meets quality - perfect for any occasion that calls for something reliable and, of course, yummy. The nose displays beautiful notes of apricot and citrus that immediately signal quality fruit and careful winemaking. It's the kind of aromatics that make you lean in for that first sip with genuine anticipation. The elegantly weighted palate is what sets this apart. It delivers a rounded mouthfeel with smooth flow that leads to a crisp and lingering finish. That's the mark of proper winemaking - when everything feels effortless but you know serious skill went into creating that seamless experience.

You'd pay $20 full price.

Frequently Asked Questions

This curated lineup showcases the incredible diversity of Australian chardonnay across different regions and winemaking philosophies. From creamy, buttery styles with oak influence to crisp, citrus-driven expressions, you'll experience how terroir and technique shape this noble grape. The collection includes cult producers, boutique wineries, and 5-star Halliday operations, giving you access to premium expressions that demonstrate why chardonnay remains the world's most planted white grape variety.

The flavour spectrum ranges from zesty citrus and green apple notes in cooler-climate styles to rich tropical fruit, peach, and buttery characteristics from warmer regions or oak-influenced winemaking. This diversity allows you to explore how chardonnay adapts to different climates and cellar techniques, from stainless steel fermentation that preserves fruit purity to barrel fermentation that adds complexity through malolactic conversion and lees contact.

With vintages spanning 2023-2025, these chardonnays represent both current releases and some very recent bottlings that showcase the grape's immediate appeal. Most premium Australian chardonnays are crafted for both immediate enjoyment and short to medium-term cellaring, typically developing additional complexity over 3-7 years. The hand-picked fruit and boutique production methods suggest these wines have the structure to reward patient collectors while offering immediate pleasure.

The varied palate weights and styles make this collection incredibly food-friendly across different occasions. Lighter, citrus-driven bottles pair beautifully with seafood, fresh salads, and soft cheeses, while the creamier, oak-influenced styles complement roasted chicken, lobster with butter sauce, and mushroom risotto. The tropical fruit notes work wonderfully with Asian cuisine, particularly dishes with coconut or mild spice, showcasing chardonnay's remarkable versatility at the dinner table.

While spanning various Australian regions, this collection emphasises boutique and cult producers who represent the cutting edge of Australian chardonnay making. These smaller-scale operations often employ traditional techniques like hand-picking and careful vineyard selection that larger producers can't always maintain. The inclusion of estate-grown wines means you're tasting fruit from vineyards owned by the winemakers themselves, ensuring complete control over quality from vine to bottle.
