Why do we love this case?

Centuries of hard study and impossible calculations by boffins all over the world have gotten us no closer to figuring out whether we prefer gris or grigio. And you know what, we're happy sitting on the fence. In this case, you'll get to explore the wonders of both styles. It’s pretty much the best way to get around the grape.

2x Windowrie Estate Pig in the House Pinot Gris 2025

White — Pinot Gris

Central Ranges — Australia

A bright, snappy gris. Fresh and lifted stone fruit aromatics leap out of the glass. The palate is quite soft and supple; apricot cream and lemon pith. There's a little bit of rocky minerality on offer, too. This is classic, generous pinot gris that remains true to style. The palate is quite soft and supple; apricot cream and lemon pith. An extremely versatile wine – it'll be just as comfortable next to a seafood feast as it will with a mid-week pizza on the couch.

2x Harvest Moon Pinot Grigio 2024

White — Pinot Grigio

King Valley — Australia

This is Italian heritage meeting modern Australian flair in the most delicious way. Juicy pear, tart grapefruit and soft floral notes - Harvest Moon delivers a pitch-perfect blend of Italian tradition and Aussie vibrancy.
The nose is instantly inviting - bursting with fresh-cut pear, zesty grapefruit and a lift of delicate white blossom. 2x Mitolo Jester Pinot Grigio 2025

White — Pinot Grigio

Adelaide Hills — Australia

Bursting with expressive aromatics, you'll be drooling at the citrus, stone fruit, apples and pears that are rolling all over your taste buds. A summer smasher that should never be far from reach. When you check the notes for this wine and see that it is grown on soils rich in limestone you take another sip and delve into a wine that is oozing in freshness and bright acidity. It's the type of wine you pop in the middle of the table on a hot day and realise you need 12 more bottle when your mates keep coming back for another glass. It reminds us that wine when wine is easy and bloody darn good tasting, we want to share it with good company. This is a perfect wine to do those things without breaking the bank.

2x Oxbow Pinot Grigio 2025

White — Pinot Grigio

Adelaide Hills — Australia

This lot don't muck around, they know that if they're going to make pinot grigio this good, they're going to have to head for 'The Hills'. Boy are we glad that they did, a cracking drop. Premium Adelaide Hills fruit in the hands of an exceptional winemaker. If you've heard of Sam Scott (of La Prova fame) then you know the kind of calibre we're talking about here. A celebration of citrus; lemons and limes into grapefruit and tangerine. Beautifully textural and well balanced with a fresh, mineral palate that is so perfect paired with tangy foods like goat’s cheese or a lemon sponge cake. This is pristine, excellent wine

Frequently Asked Questions

While both come from the same grape variety, the difference lies in winemaking philosophy and regional tradition. Pinot Gris (French style) typically produces richer, more textured wines with greater body and complexity, often showing honeyed or spiced characteristics. Pinot Grigio (Italian style) tends to be lighter, crisper, and more mineral-driven, emphasising fresh acidity and clean fruit flavours. This mixed pack lets you experience both approaches side by side, showcasing how winemaking technique can dramatically influence the same grape's expression.

The vintage variation (2024-2025) actually enhances your tasting experience by demonstrating how seasonal conditions affect wine character. Recent vintages like these capture the grape at peak freshness while showing subtle differences in ripeness, acidity, and flavour development between growing seasons. This approach gives you a more comprehensive understanding of how Pinot Gris/Grigio can vary not just by style, but by the year's unique weather patterns and harvest timing.

Start with the Pinot Grigio wines chilled (8-10°C) to appreciate their crisp, mineral qualities and citrus-driven profiles. Then move to the Pinot Gris selections, which can handle slightly warmer serving temperatures and will reveal their richer, more textured characteristics. Pay attention to how the same grape expresses differently - notice the weight on your palate, the intensity of fruit flavours, and the finish length. This comparative approach will sharpen your palate and help you identify your personal preference.

The lighter Pinot Grigio styles excel with delicate seafood, fresh salads, and Asian cuisine where their crisp acidity won't overpower subtle flavours. The richer Pinot Gris wines can handle more substantial dishes like roasted chicken, creamy pasta, or soft cheeses where their fuller body provides better balance. The diverse flavour profile spanning from citrus and green apple to tropical fruit and spice means you'll have versatile options for everything from aperitifs to main course pairings.

These wines are crafted for immediate enjoyment and showcase the grape's fresh, vibrant characteristics at their peak. Pinot Gris and Grigio are generally not intended for long-term cellaring, as their appeal lies in youthful fruit expression and crisp acidity. With vintages this recent, you're getting them at their optimal drinking window where the primary fruit flavours are most pronounced and the acidity is perfectly balanced. Consume within 2-3 years to experience them as the winemakers intended.
