Why do we love this case?

Centuries of hard study and impossible calculations by boffins all over the world have gotten us no closer to figuring out whether we prefer gris or grigio. And you know what, we're happy sitting on the fence. In this case, you'll get to explore the wonders of both styles. It’s pretty much the best way to get around the grape.

2x Long Lane Estate Marlborough Pinot Gris 2025

White — Pinot Gris

Marlborough — New Zealand

Marlborough does Sauvignon Blanc brilliantly. Everyone knows that. But the region's Pinot Gris deserves considerably more attention - this'll show you exactly why. Ripe pear, white peach and a gentle floral lift on the nose, with a palate that's soft, textural and satisfyingly generous without ever losing its natural freshness. A whisper of spice and a clean, dry finish make it genuinely versatile at the table - seafood, soft cheese, Asian-inspired dishes or just a cold glass on a warm afternoon with nowhere to be. Fresh, approachable and completely easy to love. Grab a few. You'll find plenty of reasons to open them.

You'd pay $30 full price.

2x Nova Vita Wines Firebird Pinot Gris 2024

White — Pinot Gris

Adelaide Hills — Australia

This gorgeous Gris comes off a single vineyard, split across two separate blocks, and the extra time spent on skins and lees is exactly why you get that gorgeous deep straw colour and almost unrivalled texture. Some producers buy in fruit and call it a day. This lot grows every grape themselves, picks it themselves, then hand-crushes each one back at the winery - a level of control that borders on obsessive, but it means nothing gets left to chance between vine and glass. The palate is broad and textural, pear, quince and ripe pear all doing their thing, with a firm line of acidity keeping it from getting too soft. Give it a bit of time in the glass and it just keeps opening up, revealing more complexity the longer you sit with it. Drink it over the next couple of years, or push it to four if you've got the patience - either way, this is Pinot Gris with actual substance behind it.

You'd pay $25 full price.

2x Pyren Vineyards Tanwood Pinot Gris 2025

White — Pinot Gris

Pyrenees — Australia

The Victorian Pyrenees may no be the first place that you'd go searching for a bottle of pinot gris, but you certainly should. With a classic climate for aromatic white wines, this is all about the fleshy white peach and pear drop characters that are hard to resist. Add in a dose of tartness somewhere in the realm of green apple and almond skin, and you've got the perfectly balanced glass.

2x Oxbow Pinot Grigio 2025

White — Pinot Grigio

Adelaide Hills — Australia

This lot don't muck around, they know that if they're going to make pinot grigio this good, they're going to have to head for 'The Hills'. Boy are we glad that they did, a cracking drop. Premium Adelaide Hills fruit in the hands of an exceptional winemaker. If you've heard of Sam Scott (of La Prova fame) then you know the kind of calibre we're talking about here. A celebration of citrus; lemons and limes into grapefruit and tangerine. Beautifully textural and well balanced with a fresh, mineral palate that is so perfect paired with tangy foods like goat’s cheese or a lemon sponge cake. This is pristine, excellent wine

2x Monarca Pinot Gris 2025

White — Pinot Gris

Alpine & King Valleys — Australia

The King and Alpine Valleys are among Australia's finest spots for pinot gris, and this one nails exactly what the variety should be in this country. You're getting texture and freshness working together beautifully - pear and melon richness rather than sharp citrus, with enough weight to handle roast chook, risotto or whatever you're throwing at it. Ripe pear and honeydew dominate, with a subtle spice note and creamy texture that gives it real presence in the glass. There's freshness keeping everything lifted, but it's got enough weight and richness to handle a good feed. The finish is clean and moreish - not bone dry, not sweet, just sitting in that spot where you reach for another glass without thinking about it. At this price, it's not just good value, it's genuinely delicious drinking and it's ticking all the gris boxes. Great stuff.

2x Nomad's Garden Glenmore Springs Pinot Grigio 2025

White — Pinot Grigio

King Valley — Australia

Grown high enough that the cool mountain air does most of the heavy lifting here, and it shows in every part of the glass. There's real texture, concentrated flavour, and an aromatic lift all held together by natural acidity that's stayed genuinely vibrant rather than fading out. The trick is timing - this only happens when the sugar and the physiological ripeness in the grape arrive at exactly the same moment, while that natural acid backbone is still firmly intact. Get the site wrong, or the variety wrong, and you simply don't see this outcome. Get it right, and you land here: a wine with a genuinely complex, mineral-driven character that warmer-climate versions of the same variety almost never manage to pull off. This is what altitude and patience do for a grape when everything lines up. Rare stuff, and it drinks like it.

You'd pay $24 full price.
