Although borderline inaccessible by road, Tassie's scarcely-touched Cradle Coast continues to produce stunning pinot noir. Medium bodied, complex red and black fruit, slight earthy notes and a long, classy finish. Sounds like Tassie to us!

Why do we love this wine?

Bruised raspberry, black cherry, warming spice and a subtle, but ever-present, touch of oak. Yep, this is Tassie pinot through and through. From Tasmania's wild and untamed Cradle Coast, the refined beauty of this wine seems incongruous with its place of origin. That is, of course, until you look a little deeper. There's a subtle gnarliness underpinning every aspect of this wine, like a boxer with a pretty face. Just because something's completely gorgeous, doesn't mean it can't pack a punch.

Frequently Asked Questions

Tasmania's cool maritime climate and pristine environment create ideal conditions for elegant Pinot Noir production. The island's wild Cradle Coast, where this Ghost Rock wine originates, provides the perfect balance of challenging growing conditions and pure terroir expression. This results in wines with exceptional finesse and complexity that rival the world's best cool-climate Pinot Noir regions like Burgundy and Oregon.

The 2025 vintage has been recognised as a 'Killer Vintage' for Ghost Rock, indicating exceptional growing conditions that year. This translates to optimal fruit development and concentration, allowing the wine's characteristic bruised raspberry and black cherry flavours to shine with remarkable intensity. The vintage's quality ensures this Pinot Noir will develop beautifully over time while maintaining its elegant structure.

This elegant Tasmanian Pinot Noir's light body and berry-driven profile make it incredibly food-friendly. The wine's subtle oak and warming spice complement roasted duck, grilled salmon, or mushroom risotto beautifully. Its refined acidity and fruit-forward character also pair excellently with aged cheeses, charcuterie, or even lighter Asian cuisine like teriyaki chicken.

Ghost Rock has earned iconic status through their consistent ability to craft exceptional Tasmanian wines that showcase the island's unique terroir. Their expertise in handling Pinot Noir from Tasmania's challenging Cradle Coast demonstrates masterful winemaking that balances elegance with underlying complexity. This recognition reflects their commitment to producing wines that authentically represent Tasmania's distinctive cool-climate character.

The 'subtle gnarliness' refers to an underlying earthiness and complexity that prevents this Pinot Noir from being simply pretty or one-dimensional. While the wine presents beautifully with elegant raspberry and cherry flavours, there's a deeper, more rustic character that reflects Tasmania's wild terroir. This complexity adds depth and interest, ensuring the wine has substance beyond its initial charm and will reward contemplative drinking.
