Don't worry, try one of these

Why do we love this wine?

A bouquet of cloves, leather, red fruit and vanillan oak open up a broad palate of slightly-confected raspberry, sour cherry and a mouth-coating, silky tannins with considerable length. Sourced from three distinct single vineyards in the Barossa region, each component of this wine is created separately, rigorously tasted and tested before being expertly blended into this banging Barossa blend. With each component being treated as a stand-alone wine before blending, it only makes sense that the quality of the eventual wine is going to be of first rate. Think of it this way, if you make fruit salad from spoilt fruit, you're not going to have a particularly lovely salad. Well, with a pristine base, this wine is a particularly lovely fruit salad.

Frequently Asked Questions

GSM stands for Grenache, Syrah (Shiraz), and Mourvèdre - a classic Mediterranean blend that originated in France's Rhône Valley. This combination works brilliantly because each grape contributes distinct characteristics: Grenache provides bright red fruit and body, Shiraz adds structure and spice, while Mourvèdre contributes earthy complexity and tannins. The Barossa Valley's warm climate is particularly well-suited to this blend, producing wines with excellent concentration and balance.

The Barossa Valley's warm, continental climate and ancient soils create ideal conditions for GSM blends, producing wines with intense fruit concentration and distinctive regional character. The leather and spice notes in this wine are classic Barossa signatures, developed through the region's hot days and cool nights which preserve acidity while building flavour complexity. Being sourced from three distinct single vineyards allows the winemaker to capture different terroir expressions within the broader Barossa style.

The wine's textured, savoury profile with leather and sour cherry notes makes it excellent with grilled meats, particularly lamb with herbs or barbecued beef. The silky tannins and vanilla oak complement rich, slow-cooked dishes like braised short ribs or Mediterranean-style stews. The wine's acidity and fruit-forward character also pair beautifully with aged cheeses, charcuterie boards, or even spiced Middle Eastern cuisine where the clove notes can harmonise with similar spices.

The 2023 vintage in Barossa produced wines with excellent fruit concentration and balanced acidity, ideal for GSM blends that rely on harmony between varieties. The slightly confected raspberry and sour cherry flavours suggest optimal ripeness was achieved without over-extraction, while the considerable length indicates good vintage conditions that allowed full flavour development. Young GSM blends like this 2023 offer immediate drinking pleasure while having the structure to develop additional complexity over the next 5-8 years.

This wine represents exceptional value from a boutique producer who treats each grape variety as a standalone wine before blending - a labour-intensive approach typically reserved for premium bottlings. The 90-point staff rating reflects the wine's quality-to-price ratio, offering Barossa GSM complexity at an accessible price point. The mouth-coating, silky tannins and considerable length indicate serious winemaking attention, making this an opportunity to experience high-quality Australian blending at a fraction of typical boutique pricing.
