Some wines sit in the cellar and wait for the perfect moment. This wine creates the perfect moment. A complete showstopper. With a super-heavy bottle, wax-dipped cork and embossed label, this wine talks the talk, but boy, does it walk the walk.

Why do we love this wine?

A wine that consistently inspires almost indecent enthusiasm from all that pop the cork. These pioneer planted shiraz vines in the revered Blewitt Springs sub-region of McLaren Vale have been hand-tendered continuously and painstakingly watched over since their planting. The result is a wine showing complexity, structure and intensity of flavour that is utterly unique to the vineyard and seldom seen anywhere else in the world. Rich, concentrated, dark red fruits and abundant ripe tannins are seamlessly integrated into spicy, perfumed oak to create a structural, but heavily fruit-weighted wine that will steal the spotlight and create memories from now until 2035 (at least).

"Oh, my. This is seriously good from the get-go on the nose through that final slurp on the palate. Loads of concentrated dark fruits are multi-faceted with red and black fruits complemented by some nice blue fruit fragrances. Seamless integration of fine chalky tannins and fine-grained oak supplement the supple fruit flavours of dark chocolate, plum and licorice. This is luxury." - Ray Jordan, Wine Pilot

Frequently Asked Questions

Blewitt Springs is a highly regarded sub-region within McLaren Vale known for its unique terroir that produces exceptional Shiraz. The area's ancient soils, elevation, and climate create ideal conditions for developing the intense concentration and complexity found in this wine. These pioneer plantings have been continuously hand-tended since establishment, allowing the vines to develop deep root systems that extract distinctive mineral characteristics from the soil.

This Shiraz has excellent cellaring potential until at least 2035, giving you over a decade to enjoy its evolution. The wine's abundant ripe tannins and structural backbone provide the framework for long-term ageing, while the concentrated dark fruit flavours will develop greater complexity over time. As it matures, expect the oak integration to become more seamless and secondary flavours like leather, tobacco, and earthy notes to emerge.

The consistently high scores (95-97 points) from multiple respected wine critics reflect this wine's exceptional quality and unique character. Critics have recognised the seamless integration of rich fruit concentration with structural tannins and spicy oak - a balance that's difficult to achieve. The 'utterly unique' vineyard character and intensity of flavour that's 'seldom seen anywhere else in the world' demonstrates why this wine stands out in the competitive McLaren Vale Shiraz category.

This rich, concentrated Shiraz pairs beautifully with robust red meat dishes like grilled lamb, beef steaks, or slow-cooked braised meats that can match its intensity. The wine's chocolate and oaky notes complement dishes with earthy flavours such as mushroom-based sauces or aged cheeses. The abundant tannins help cut through rich, fatty foods, while the dark cherry characteristics provide a lovely contrast to gamey meats like venison or duck.

Prepare for an intensely aromatic experience with perfumed oak and concentrated dark red fruit aromas that immediately signal this wine's quality. On the palate, you'll encounter rich, concentrated flavours of black cherry and chocolate, supported by abundant but ripe tannins that provide structure without overwhelming the fruit. The wine's full-bodied nature and seamless oak integration create a memorable drinking experience that showcases why it inspires 'almost indecent enthusiasm' from wine lovers.
