This is not just shiraz - this is Langi shiraz. Grown on the estate’s revered Old Block, planted in 1969 at the foot of the Great Dividing Range, this wine has long been a benchmark for cool-climate Australian shiraz. And in 2021, it’s absolutely singing. This might just be the most awarded wine we've ever had the pleasure of offering.

Why do we love this wine?
Inky black in the glass with flashes of deep garnet, the nose leads with potent blackberries and black cherry, backed-up by complex spice. There’s a streak of rhubarb and redcurrant threading through, adding both lift and detail. The palate is mesmerising. A wash of dense, dark fruit flows through finely sculpted tannins, bolstered by 16 months in French barrique (50% new). Silky and lithe but never shy, it layers blackberry, dark plum, liquorice, smoked meat, pepper, cocoa and dried herbs effortlessly. That spine of fresh acidity and minerality gives it a sense of movement and momentum that’s rare and utterly captivating. It’s drinking beautifully now with a good decant, but has the bones and energy to cruise through to 2044 and beyond.

Halliday Wine Companion
" Grown on the estate's 'Old Block' of shiraz vines, planted in 1969. It spent 16 months in French oak barriques (50% new). It's a magnificent release. It's fluid, elegant and controlled but, just a bit, it also stamps its feet and says: the world is mine. It's awash with cherry/plum, peanut shell, black pepper and floral flavours, and it's both silken to the touch, and (super) long through the finish. This is a wine. Drink by 2044. 98 Points." - Campbell Mattinson, Halliday Wine Companion
