This pinot just absolutely hums with energy. As detailed as it is delicious, it’s elegant, expressive and purely Yarra Valley - think red currant, strawberry and cherry pie, all wrapped in super-fine tannins and tasteful French oak. A Yarra drinker's dream.

Don't worry, try one of these

Why do we love this wine?

This is a Yarra Valley pinot with the precise prettiness that we've all come to expect from - huge call incoming - Australia's greatest pinot region. Grown in the luscious Yarra Valley hills of Gruyere, from the ever-popular MV6 clone, and matured for 10 months in French oak, it’s a wine that nails the balance between purity and complexity. The nose is singing - raspberry, cherry, poached rhubarb and a cool note of spearmint, with oak spice drifting through. The palate is built on bright acidity and soft, powdery tannins. Red currants, hibiscus and baked cherry pie. It’s layered, lifted and built to charm - a perfect match for mushroom gnocchi, but equally at home as the sole star of the show. You could absolutely drink now or watch it evolve over the next 5-6 years - the choice is yours.

Frequently Asked Questions

The MV6 clone is one of Australia's most celebrated Pinot Noir clones, originally selected from Burgundy's prestigious Domaine de la Romanée-Conti. It's particularly well-suited to the Yarra Valley's cool climate, producing wines with exceptional aromatics and elegant structure. This clone is renowned for delivering the perfect balance of fruit intensity and savoury complexity that defines premium Australian Pinot Noir.

The 10-month French oak maturation adds subtle spice and structural complexity without overwhelming the delicate Pinot Noir fruit. French oak is prized for its fine grain and restrained influence, contributing vanilla and baking spice notes while allowing the wine's natural raspberry and cherry flavours to shine. This careful oak integration creates the layered complexity that makes this wine suitable for both immediate enjoyment and medium-term cellaring.

The Yarra Valley's cool climate, diverse soils, and elevation variations create ideal conditions for Pinot Noir, mimicking the terroir of Burgundy. The region's ability to produce wines with both power and elegance has earned international recognition, with many considering it Australia's answer to Côte d'Or. The Gruyere subregion, where this wine originates, is particularly prized for its well-draining soils and cool microclimates that preserve the grape's natural acidity and aromatics.

This wine's medium body and savoury profile make it incredibly food-friendly, particularly with earthy dishes like the suggested mushroom gnocchi. The wine's bright acidity and soft tannins complement duck, salmon, or roasted chicken, while its herbaceous notes pair beautifully with dishes featuring thyme, rosemary, or sage. The cherry and violet characteristics also work wonderfully with aged cheeses and charcuterie.

Premium Yarra Valley Pinot Noir typically evolves from bright, primary fruit flavours toward more complex secondary characteristics with proper cellaring. Over time, expect the cherry and raspberry notes to integrate with emerging earthy, forest floor, and gamey nuances. The tannins will soften further while the wine develops greater textural complexity, though the vibrant acidity will help maintain freshness throughout its drinking window.
