Rosenvale isn't just another name on a label — it's a living slice of Barossa history. This wine is truly representative of this history (and know-how). Depth, structure and that unmistakable Barossa character - rich, dark-fruited, bold and beautifully balanced. And, of course, plenty of bling to prove it.

Why do we love this wine?

Founded by sixth-generation Barossa Baron, grower and winemaker, James Rosenzweig, back in 1999, it's still a true family affair, with three generations now tending to the vines and carrying the legacy forward. Their secret weapon is the Roseback trellis system (from which this wine takes its name) - a clever, arched cane setup designed to grow A-grade shiraz and cabernet while keeping the vines healthy for the long haul. It's smart viticulture that maximises sunlight, airflow and flavour concentration, and it shows in every glass. Basically, they found a way to make Barossa shiraz taste even more Barossa shiraz. Wonderfully done.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Roseback trellis system uses an innovative arched cane setup that maximises sunlight exposure and airflow around the grape clusters. This clever viticulture technique concentrates flavours while maintaining vine health, resulting in more intense Barossa Shiraz characteristics. The system essentially amplifies what makes Barossa Shiraz distinctive - those rich, powerful flavours that the region is famous for.

This wine represents six generations of Barossa heritage, with the Rosenzweig family maintaining traditional winemaking values while embracing innovative techniques. The full-bodied style with blood plum and violet notes is quintessentially Barossa, where the warm climate and ancient soils produce some of Australia's most powerful Shiraz. The family's commitment to old vine fruit and small batch production ensures each bottle captures the essence of this legendary wine region.

The rich, full-bodied nature and coconut notes from oak aging make this Shiraz perfect for hearty red meat dishes like grilled lamb or beef. The blood plum flavours complement game meats beautifully, while the wine's structure can handle bold flavours like barbecued ribs or aged cheeses. The violet aromatics add elegance that pairs wonderfully with herb-crusted roasts or rich pasta dishes with mushroom-based sauces.

The dual 95-point scores from Wine Showcase and Wine Orbit, plus a Gold Medal, reflect the exceptional quality achieved through combining old vine fruit with innovative viticulture. Critics recognise how the Roseback trellis system has enhanced flavour concentration while maintaining balance in this full-bodied style. The wine demonstrates that modern techniques can elevate traditional Barossa Shiraz without compromising the region's signature character.

Old vines in the Barossa produce lower yields but significantly more concentrated flavours, as their deep root systems access nutrients and water from ancient soils. These mature vines, some potentially decades old, contribute to the wine's complexity and the distinctive blood plum and violet characteristics. The small batch production from these precious old vines ensures each bottle represents the pinnacle of Barossa Shiraz craftsmanship.
