This is serious Shiraz, Mofo. The legendary Rosenvale winery was established all the way back in 1850’s, and generations of the Rosenzweig family have since tended to Barossa vineyards. They know what they're doing by now, making fantastic shiraz like this is child's play to these folk.

Why do we love this wine?

James Rosenzweig is now the 6th generation to take care of vines in Barossa, and has earned himself the neat ol’ title of a Baron of Barossa for his dedication to the region’s industry. His ability to tend to A Grade vineyards and make high calibre wines is an immense skill. This single vineyard shiraz from the Stockwell Rise parcel is all about outstanding fruit quality: fresh blackberries and plums intertwined with cherry ripe complexities. The tannins are decadent, making every sip as fulfilling as the last. What a ripper wine, it's quite unbelievable that we can offer it to you at this price.

Frequently Asked Questions

This single vineyard Shiraz comes from the prestigious Stockwell Rise parcel, crafted by James Rosenzweig, a 6th generation Barossa winemaker and Baron of Barossa. The vineyard's A Grade status means exceptional terroir that produces concentrated fruit with distinctive cherry ripe complexities alongside classic blackberry and plum flavours. Single vineyard wines like this showcase the unique characteristics of one specific site, rather than blending fruit from multiple locations, resulting in a more precise expression of place.

The 2022 vintage in Barossa was marked by ideal growing conditions that allowed for excellent fruit ripening and concentration. This translates to the wine's full-bodied palate weight and decadent tannin structure, which provides both immediate drinking pleasure and excellent ageing potential. Young Barossa Shiraz from quality vintages like 2022 typically shows vibrant fruit expression that will evolve into more complex savoury and earthy notes over the next 10-15 years.

The wine's rich blueberry and cocoa notes, combined with cedar influences and decadent tannins, make it perfect for robust dishes like grilled lamb, beef steaks, or slow-cooked game meats. The cherry ripe complexities also complement dishes with sweet and savoury elements, such as duck with cherry sauce or barbecued ribs with fruit-based glazes. The full-bodied structure can stand up to strong cheeses and charcuterie as well.

The 97-point Wine Orbit rating and 5-star recognition reflect the exceptional quality achieved through James Rosenzweig's sixth-generation expertise and access to premium A Grade vineyard sites. Critics particularly value single vineyard expressions that demonstrate clear terroir characteristics, and this wine delivers with its distinctive cherry ripe complexities that set it apart from standard Barossa Shiraz. The combination of outstanding fruit quality, skilled winemaking, and the prestigious Stockwell Rise vineyard creates a wine that punches well above its price point.

Store this full-bodied Shiraz in a cool, dark place at around 12-15°C to preserve its vibrant fruit characters and allow the tannins to integrate properly over time. Serve at 16-18°C to showcase the complex interplay between the blackberry, plum, and cherry ripe flavours alongside the cedar and cocoa notes. Decanting for 30-60 minutes before serving will help soften the decadent tannins and allow the wine's aromatics to fully express themselves.
