We can’t splash the producer’s name all over the page… but let’s just say you’re dealing with one of the Barossa’s most famous estates. In other words, you're in good hands here. This shiraz is a fresher take on the region - still generous, still unmistakably Barossa, just with the brightness and spice dialled up a touch. The kind of wine that still brings the power but you don't need a knife and fork to consume it. Wonderfully vibrant.

Why do we love this wine?

The palate is plush but not heavy. Juicy dark berries roll through first, backed by pepper, dried herbs and a subtle ironstone edge that keeps things interesting. A small portion of whole bunch brings extra lift and structure, while older oak lets the fruit stay front and centre. Tannins are fine and neatly shaped, carrying the flavour out to a tidy, satisfying finish. It’s modern, it’s vibrant, and it’s built to be enjoyed now - preferably with something sizzling on the grill. From a heavyweight Barossa name. At a price that makes it very easy to say yes.

Frequently Asked Questions

This 2022 Shiraz achieves a remarkable balance - it's full-bodied yet maintains elegance through careful winemaking techniques. The use of whole bunch fermentation adds lift and structure while preventing the wine from becoming overly dense. The restrained oak treatment allows the vibrant fruit character to shine, creating a modern style that's immediately approachable rather than requiring years of cellaring.

Whole bunch fermentation involves including grape stems during fermentation, which adds complexity and structure to the wine. In this Shiraz, it contributes to the wine's lifted aromatics and provides additional tannin structure without heaviness. This technique is particularly effective in warm climates like Barossa, where it helps maintain freshness and prevents the wine from becoming too jammy or overripe.

The ironstone edge refers to mineral notes derived from the iron-rich soils common in premium Barossa vineyards. This geological influence adds a savoury, earthy complexity that balances the rich fruit flavours and prevents the wine from being one-dimensional. It's this mineral backbone that gives the wine its distinctive character and helps it pair beautifully with grilled meats and hearty dishes.

The winemaker has crafted this Shiraz in a modern, approachable style with fine, well-integrated tannins and balanced acidity. The careful oak management and whole bunch inclusion create immediate harmony between fruit, structure, and complexity. While it could develop further with age, the wine's vibrant fruit character and polished tannins make it perfectly enjoyable upon release - ideal for those who prefer immediate gratification over long-term cellaring.

The wine's juicy dark berry flavours and peppery spice make it an excellent match for barbecued meats, particularly lamb or beef with herb rubs. The ironstone minerality and fine tannin structure also complement rich, slow-cooked dishes like braised short ribs or venison. The wine's modern, fruit-forward style means it won't overpower lighter preparations, making it versatile enough for herb-crusted roasts or even spicy Asian cuisine.
