Why do we love this wine?

The 2022 vintage in the Barossa was an absolute cracker - in fact, many speak of it as being the best in recent memory - reds flourished with deep colours and intense flavours with the resulting wines providing a great option for early consumption while also rewarding cellaring. This is a serious contender to buy up and enjoy the beautiful development of this wine over the next 10 to 15 years. A wine that'll make you happy, Mum happy, Dad happy, Grandpa and Grandma happy. It'll keep the in-laws quiet and impressed. Friends will nudge you for another glass and you'll be tempted not to mention you've got more bottles stashed away. But hey, sharing is caring. Just like us sharing this beauty with you.

Frequently Asked Questions

The 2022 vintage is being hailed as one of the best in recent memory for the Barossa Valley. Perfect growing conditions allowed Shiraz grapes to develop exceptional depth of colour and intensity of flavour. This combination of ideal weather patterns and terroir has produced wines with both immediate drinking appeal and excellent cellaring potential, making it a standout year that collectors and casual drinkers alike should take notice of.

This full-bodied Barossa Shiraz has excellent aging potential of 10 to 15 years from vintage. The wine's structure, tannins, and concentrated fruit flavours will evolve beautifully over time, developing more complex secondary characteristics like leather, tobacco, and earthy notes. While delicious now, patience will be rewarded as the wine integrates and softens, revealing new layers of complexity with proper storage.

The rich plum, chocolate, and cedar notes make this Shiraz perfect for hearty dishes like grilled lamb, beef steaks, or slow-cooked stews. The wine's full body and robust tannins can stand up to strong flavours and rich sauces. Try it with barbecued meats, aged cheeses, or even dark chocolate desserts where the wine's chocolate notes will create beautiful flavour harmonies.

The cedar notes typically indicate quality oak treatment, suggesting the wine has been aged in well-chosen barrels that complement rather than overpower the fruit. Chocolate flavours in Shiraz often develop from ripe fruit combined with careful winemaking, creating natural cocoa-like compounds. Together with the plum characteristics, these flavours indicate a well-balanced wine where fruit, oak, and winemaking technique have harmoniously combined.

Barossa Valley's warm climate and ancient soils create ideal conditions for Shiraz, producing wines with distinctive power and elegance. The region's old vine plantings, some over 100 years old, contribute concentrated flavours and complexity that younger vines simply cannot achieve. This terroir, combined with generations of winemaking expertise, has established Barossa Shiraz as a benchmark style recognised globally for its quality and distinctive Australian character.
