This 98 point beauty is one of the most premium Barossa drops to ever hit Vinomofo - at one of our biggest discounts ever. Incredibly cellar-worthy, yet so generous already - feel free to pop this down for another 20 years. That's not to say you shouldn't drink some now - decant for a couple of hours, chuck on roast, you're away. Heaven.

Why do we love this wine?

From one of our favourite Barossa producers, who have brought us multiple 98 and 99 pointed drops before, comes this incredible special release shiraz that will continue to grow and show for the next 20 years. Careful maturation in specially selected highest-grade French oak, followed by barrel selection of the finest juice, has helped craft this unparalleled expression of the country's top grape/region combination. Compellingly complex, the nose shows rich, ripe plums and bramble fruit with black cherries. Supporting is an excellent intermingling of charcuterie, black olives, cocoa and liquorice. The palate is simultaneously refined and powerful, with beautifully ripe tannins and a clean line of acidity supporting an incredibly long finish. This is premium Barossa at it's absolute best.

Frequently Asked Questions

This wine has earned outstanding scores including 98 points from Wine Orbit and 96 points from multiple critics because it represents the pinnacle of Barossa Shiraz craftsmanship. The producer's meticulous approach - using specially selected highest-grade French oak and careful barrel selection of only the finest juice - creates a wine that perfectly balances power with refinement. The Barossa Valley's unique terroir, combined with expert winemaking, produces Shiraz with exceptional depth and complexity that critics recognise as world-class.

This premium Barossa Shiraz is built for extended cellaring and will continue to develop beautifully over the next 20 years. While it's drinking magnificently now, the wine's structure - with ripe tannins and clean acidity - provides the backbone for long-term ageing. During cellaring, the primary fruit flavours will integrate further with the French oak, developing tertiary characteristics like leather, tobacco, and earthy complexity that make aged Barossa Shiraz so prized by collectors.

The Barossa Valley's Mediterranean climate, ancient soils, and elevation variations create perfect conditions for Shiraz to develop intense flavour concentration while maintaining balance. The region's warm days allow full phenolic ripeness, while cool nights preserve natural acidity - evident in this wine's clean acid line supporting the rich fruit. This terroir, combined with generations of winemaking expertise, consistently produces Shiraz that showcases the grape's potential for both power and elegance.

This wine's rich palate profile with black cherry, spice, and violet notes, plus its charcuterie and black olive characteristics, makes it perfect for robust dishes. The full-bodied structure and ripe tannins can stand up to grilled red meats, slow-cooked lamb, or aged hard cheeses. The wine's cocoa and liquorice notes also complement dishes with earthy mushrooms or dark chocolate-based sauces, while its refined character won't overpower well-seasoned game meats.

Black Market Deals typically indicate exceptional value wines from prestigious producers who prefer to remain anonymous, often due to existing distribution agreements or brand positioning strategies. This allows wine lovers to access premium quality - evidenced by the 98-point rating and Five Star Halliday winery status - at prices significantly below what the wine would normally command. The producer's track record of multiple 98 and 99-point wines suggests this represents outstanding value for collectors seeking cellar-worthy Barossa Shiraz.
