Winter strawberry and under ripe raspberry on the palate immediately, but there is a bit of darker, richer fruit tucked in behind it. Mulberry and bramble, and a bit of vanillin oak presence, too.

Why do we love this wine?

This is a really smart little wine. A lot of red fruit on display, some rich, ripe raspberry and strawberries lead into more densely laden cranberry and red cherry. The tannin is fine grain and delicate - pretty but textural and providing nice, subtle grip. While this is certifiable cool climate, it doesn't want for weight. The palate is satisfying and broad with classic cool climate acidity giving it focus and drive through a fine boned, prickly finish that lasts and lasts.

All the colour and aromatic boxes are ticked here – garnet in the glass and crushed crimson fruit wafting out of it, a little herb garden note adding background earthiness to a fresh swirl of Morello cherry juice as you taste. It’s here a subtle spice comes into play – clove and a faint curry leaf, with a sense of weak bush tea tannins to tie together a moreish finish.

Frequently Asked Questions

The 2023 vintage showcases exceptional balance between cool climate elegance and surprising weight, earning multiple 90+ point ratings including 94 points from Wine Orbit. This young wine demonstrates remarkable complexity with fine-grained tannins that provide structure without overwhelming the delicate fruit profile. The fact that it's already showing such integration and depth at just one year old suggests excellent winemaking and ideal growing conditions in Victoria's cool climate regions.

Victoria's cool climate creates the perfect conditions for Pinot Noir's signature bright acidity and elegant structure, which are beautifully expressed in this wine's 'prickly finish that lasts and lasts.' The cooler temperatures allow for extended ripening periods, developing the complex red fruit spectrum from bright strawberries to deeper cranberry notes. Despite the cool climate origins, Twin Valleys has achieved remarkable palate weight and satisfaction, proving that Victorian Pinot Noir can deliver both finesse and substance.

The wine's light body and fine-grained tannins make it incredibly food-friendly, particularly with dishes that won't overpower its delicate structure. The bright cherry and strawberry notes pair beautifully with duck breast, salmon, or mushroom risotto, while the earthy undertones complement herb-crusted lamb or roasted root vegetables. The wine's excellent acidity also makes it a natural match for tomato-based dishes and aged cheeses like Gruyère or aged cheddar.

This Pinot Noir is drinking beautifully now, with its fruit-forward profile and integrated tannins providing immediate pleasure. However, the wine's structure and acidity suggest it has excellent aging potential for 5-8 years, during which the earthy characteristics will likely develop further complexity. The multiple high ratings indicate a wine with both immediate appeal and long-term potential, making it perfect whether you want to enjoy it tonight or save it for a special occasion.

Twin Valleys has established itself as a boutique producer creating wines that punch well above their weight class, as evidenced by the impressive array of 90+ point ratings from respected critics. Their Reserve Pinot Noir demonstrates the hallmarks of premium Victorian winemaking - elegant structure, complex fruit development, and excellent balance. The fact that this wine earned recognition from multiple critics including Wine Orbit's 94 points positions Twin Valleys among Victoria's most promising Pinot Noir specialists.
