Why do we love this wine?

Time and time again when the mood is calling for a rosé and our desire leans towards the south of France, this is the wine we are reaching for, it's a staple in the Mofo fridge and there is no better way to pretend that we are living it up in the Mediterranean then by popping this into the ice bucket, turning the phone on 'Do Not Disturb' and relaxing by the pool. Don't blame us when the bottle disappears quickly, just blame yourself for not stocking up enough.

Frequently Asked Questions

This Domaine Oddo rosé exemplifies the classic Provence style with its pale colour and bone-dry profile, achieved through the traditional saignée method where grape skins have minimal contact with the juice. Unlike rosés from other French regions that may be sweeter or more fruit-forward, Provence rosés like this one prioritise elegance and restraint. The Mediterranean climate and limestone-rich soils of Provence create wines with distinctive mineral undertones and crisp acidity that make them perfect food companions.

Serve this rosé well-chilled at 8-10°C to highlight its crisp, refreshing character and allow the delicate raspberry and strawberry notes to shine. The light body and dry style make it incredibly versatile - it pairs beautifully with Mediterranean cuisine, fresh seafood, or light salads. For optimal enjoyment, use a tulip-shaped white wine glass rather than a flute, as this allows the subtle aromatics to concentrate while maintaining the wine's refreshing temperature.

James Suckling's 90-point 'Outstanding' rating places this rosé in the top tier of wines, indicating exceptional quality and complexity for the style. This score suggests the wine demonstrates perfect balance between its fruit flavours, acidity, and mineral elements, with a clean, persistent finish. For a rosé to achieve this rating, it must show remarkable precision in winemaking and express its terroir beautifully - quite an achievement in a category where many wines are made for immediate, simple consumption.

The yoghurt notes in this rosé likely come from the wine's natural acidity interacting with subtle lactic characteristics developed during fermentation, creating a creamy, almost savoury dimension. This isn't literal dairy flavour but rather a textural and aromatic quality that adds complexity beyond simple fruit flavours. These yoghurt notes provide a sophisticated counterpoint to the bright raspberry and strawberry flavours, creating a more nuanced tasting experience that elevates this rosé above simple summer sippers.

This 2023 rosé is absolutely perfect to drink now and is designed for immediate enjoyment while its fresh, vibrant character is at its peak. Rosé wines, particularly from Provence, are crafted to showcase youthful fruit flavours and crisp acidity that will diminish over time rather than improve. While this wine could potentially hold for another year or two, you'll get the most pleasure from its bright raspberry and strawberry notes by enjoying it within the next 12-18 months of purchase.
