100% grenache rosé. 100% delicious. That's our two big takeaways from Patritti's 'Amico' rosé, which is designed to be enjoyed just as the name suggests: jovially and with good friends.

Why do we love this wine?

Raspberry coulis, white strawberry, thyme and a hint of creamy complexity all abound in this delicious drop. Patritti are no strangers to good wine. In fact, we can't recall a time that they missed the mark with anything coming out of their storied winery. This grenache based rosé comes off a single estate vineyard in McLaren Vale (which was planted back in the mid 20th century!) If you want to feel pretty pleased with yourself, pick up a case of this winner and enjoy the good times that will come.

"Pale salmon pink with a delicate, luminous hue. Aromas of wild strawberry, watermelon and rose petal are lifted by hints of citrus zest and a subtle floral perfume. The palate is light and refreshing, showing bright red berry fruit and juicy watermelon characters balanced by crisp acidity. A fine textural line carries through the floral mid-palate, finishing clean, vibrant and delicately dry. The balance is impeccable. Vino Masters Score: 95 / 100. A lively and refreshing rosé with purity, balance and immediate appeal."

Frequently Asked Questions

McLaren Vale's Mediterranean climate and ancient soils create perfect conditions for grenache, allowing the grapes to develop intense fruit flavours while maintaining the natural acidity essential for quality rosé. The region's warm days and cool sea breezes help preserve the delicate aromatics that make this wine so expressive. Patritti's single estate vineyard, planted in the mid-20th century, has had decades to establish deep root systems that contribute to the wine's complexity and mineral backbone.

Grenache naturally produces rosés with more body and texture compared to lighter varieties like pinot grigio or sangiovese rosé. This variety offers richer fruit flavours - think ripe strawberries and raspberries rather than tart citrus - while still maintaining the crisp, refreshing character rosé lovers expect. The hint of creamy complexity mentioned in this wine is typical of quality grenache rosé, where the grape's natural richness adds depth without compromising drinkability.

The wine's combination of berry fruits and herbal notes like thyme makes it incredibly food-friendly, particularly with Mediterranean cuisine. Try it with grilled prawns, salmon, or chicken dishes seasoned with herbs, as the wine's light body won't overpower delicate proteins. The strawberry and guava flavours also complement spicy Asian dishes, fresh salads with stone fruits, or even charcuterie boards featuring soft cheeses and cured meats.

Patritti Wines has built their reputation through consistent quality and deep understanding of their vineyard sites, particularly in McLaren Vale where they've been working the same plots for generations. Their approach focuses on expressing the natural character of their estate-grown fruit rather than following trends, which explains why their wines consistently deliver authentic regional character. The fact they've earned recognition as both a 'Mofo Fave Producer' and for this specific wine reflects their ability to balance tradition with modern winemaking techniques.

As a 2025 vintage, this rosé represents the very latest expression of Patritti's grenache vineyard, capturing the most recent growing season's unique characteristics. Rosé is typically enjoyed young to preserve its fresh fruit flavours and vibrant acidity, making this current vintage the ideal choice for immediate enjoyment. The crisp, dry style ensures the wine will maintain its refreshing qualities throughout the warmer months, when rosé consumption traditionally peaks.
