95 points from Halliday. For a Rosé. That is genuinely rare - we're talking about a score that most serious reds would be proud of, on a wine that looks like a sunset and drinks like a dream. And it comes from one of the most recognisable producers in the country...

Why do we love this wine?

Pristine rose gold in the glass. Strawberry, blood orange, cranberry and rose petal on the nose. The palate is textural and juicy - vibrant red berry fruit, bright acidity and a savoury complexity that sets it apart from anything in the category. Marcus Ellis at Halliday called it "harmonious from the get-go" with "acidity and fruit in perfect accord." Fruit from four carefully selected sites, harvested at precisely the right moment, cool fermented and given just enough lees contact to build texture and depth without ever losing freshness. The result is a dry rosé with genuine personality and presence. Simply stunning.

Frequently Asked Questions

This rosé breaks the mould of simple, sweet pink wines by offering genuine complexity and savoury depth. The winemaker has used fruit from four carefully selected sites and employed precise lees contact during fermentation to build texture without sacrificing the bright, fresh character that defines great rosé. McLaren Vale's warm climate and diverse soils contribute to the wine's unique personality, creating a dry style with real presence that stands apart from mass-market offerings.

Serve this rosé well-chilled at 8-10°C to highlight its vibrant acidity and fresh berry flavours. The wine's textural complexity means it can handle slightly warmer temperatures than lighter rosés, so don't worry if it warms up in the glass - this actually allows the savoury elements and rose petal aromatics to emerge more prominently. Its substantial palate weight makes it perfect for food pairing rather than just casual sipping.

The wine's bright acidity and savoury complexity make it incredibly food-friendly, particularly with Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisines. Try it with grilled salmon, herb-crusted lamb, or charcuterie boards where the wine's textural depth can complement rich flavours. The strawberry and cranberry notes also pair beautifully with dishes featuring pomegranate, feta cheese, or fresh herbs like thyme and rosemary.

The 95-point Halliday rating reflects the wine's exceptional balance and craftsmanship - Marcus Ellis specifically praised how the acidity and fruit achieve 'perfect accord.' This level of harmony is rare in rosé, where winemakers often struggle to balance freshness with complexity. The careful site selection, precise harvest timing, and controlled lees contact demonstrate technical excellence that elevates this wine far above typical rosé standards.

This rosé is designed for immediate enjoyment and showcases peak freshness right now. While the wine has enough structure to develop over 12-18 months, rosé is generally best consumed young to preserve its vibrant fruit character and bright acidity. The 2025 vintage represents the winemaker's vision of perfect balance achieved through careful timing and technique, so there's no need to wait - open it and enjoy the pristine expression of McLaren Vale fruit.
