Complex, intense, and wonderfully finessed – there's proper structure here, good intensity, and a long-lasting taste that sticks around like the fun uncle on Christmas night. This is Champagne that delivers the goods without the ridiculous markup you usually cop for bubbles of this quality. Don't miss out on this one - deals like this are few-and-far-between.

Why do we love this wine?

This is proper small family grower gear with a wonderful golden look in the glass and a lovely fine bead that screams quality from the moment you pour it. Rich yet beautifully balanced by scintillating acidity that keeps everything zippy and fresh, with notes of vanilla cream, toasted hazelnuts, baked apple and peach all dancing around. That extended lees maturation brings a gorgeous pastry dough richness that lets you know that you're dealing with some super high-quality sparkling wine. A total crowd-pleaser that'll have everyone asking what you're pouring and where they can get some. The answer? Right here, right now, before everyone else figures out how good the deal is. Load up while you can!

Frequently Asked Questions

As a small family grower Champagne, Breton Fils controls every aspect of production from vineyard to bottle, unlike large houses that often purchase grapes from multiple sources. The extended lees maturation creates that distinctive pastry dough richness and complexity you simply can't achieve with industrial production methods. This hands-on approach results in a more authentic expression of Champagne terroir with greater attention to detail in every bottle.

Non-vintage Champagne represents the house style through careful blending of wines from multiple years, allowing the winemaker to maintain consistency and balance across different harvests. This blending technique actually requires more skill than single-vintage production, as the cellarmaster must harmonise various base wines to achieve the signature Breton Fils profile. The NV approach also means the wine has likely spent longer on lees, contributing to its rich, complex character.

Serve well-chilled at 6-8°C in proper flute or tulip glasses to preserve the fine bead and concentrate the aromas. The full-bodied nature and rich flavours make it versatile for both aperitif service and food pairing - try it with creamy cheeses, roasted nuts, or even light seafood dishes. The toasted hazelnut and brioche notes particularly shine when paired with canapés featuring similar flavour profiles.

Lees are the dead yeast cells that remain after fermentation, and extended contact with them creates the wine's creamy texture and complex flavours like brioche and pastry dough. This process, called autolysis, breaks down the yeast cells and releases compounds that add richness and depth while softening the wine's acidity. The longer this maturation period, the more pronounced these savoury, biscuity characteristics become, which is why quality Champagne houses invest years in this crucial aging process.

This Champagne is perfectly ready to enjoy immediately, having already undergone proper maturation before release. While quality Champagne can age gracefully for several years, developing more honeyed and nutty characteristics, the vibrant acidity and fresh fruit notes are at their peak now. Given its boutique producer status and excellent value, it's designed to be enjoyed rather than stored - though a few bottles could certainly develop beautifully over 3-5 years if properly cellared.
