This is some super small-batch gear. Mornington chardonnay is already one of the harder wines to get a hold of - this one, forget about it... until now! Ripe in the right places, zippy and slatey where you want it. That delicate balance is all held together by a good hit of French oak and the faintest hint of salinity on the finish. Fantastic stuff.

Don't worry, try one of these

Why do we love this wine?

This is a wine that really captures what Mornington Peninsula in an excellent year looks like - quality fruit, skilled winemaking and a final product that'll knock your socks clean off. A chardonnay with impeccable balance and poise combined with deep, precise concentrated power. The nose offers slightly savoury chalky character alongside light stone fruit, and a fine lime zest that adds brightness and lift. It's a compelling combination that draws you straight in for the moment it first passes your lips. The palate is where this really shines - deeply concentrated fruit intensity that somehow retains that distinctive Mornington linear structure. Chalky acidity works its magic throughout, sustaining momentum through to an extended finish that just keeps going forever. There's a real lip-smacking feel in your mouth that makes you immediately reach for another sip. That said, this wine is not finished with us just yet - this'll continue to develop and grow for the next 5 - 8 years... come along for the ride!

Frequently Asked Questions

Mornington Peninsula's cool maritime climate and distinctive chalky soils create perfect conditions for elegant Chardonnay. The region's proximity to Port Phillip Bay moderates temperatures, allowing for slow ripening that preserves natural acidity while developing complex flavours. This terroir produces wines with the linear structure and mineral backbone that this 2024 vintage exemplifies so beautifully.

While absolutely delicious now, this Chardonnay will continue evolving for 5-8 years in proper storage conditions. The wine's concentrated fruit intensity and chalky acidity provide excellent aging potential, allowing secondary flavours to develop while maintaining freshness. Store it in a cool, dark place at consistent temperature to watch it transform into an even more complex expression.

This wine's creamy texture and mineral backbone make it perfect for rich seafood dishes like lobster thermidor or pan-seared scallops. The chalky acidity cuts through cream-based sauces beautifully, while the concentrated fruit complements roasted chicken or pork tenderloin. The wine's complexity also pairs wonderfully with aged hard cheeses and dishes featuring mushrooms or truffle.

A 95-point rating places this wine in the 'outstanding' category, indicating exceptional quality that stands well above average releases. Wine Pilot's scoring reflects the wine's impeccable balance, concentrated power, and aging potential. This score suggests the wine represents outstanding value and craftsmanship, particularly impressive for a boutique producer working with small-batch production methods.

This wine showcases the elegant, restrained style that Mornington Peninsula is renowned for, contrasting with the richer, more oaked Chardonnays from warmer regions. The chalky minerality and linear structure reflect cool-climate winemaking, while still delivering full-bodied intensity. It represents the modern Australian approach of balancing power with finesse, showing how terroir expression can create distinctive regional character.
